Some examples of the research projects conducted by the members of the Institute are as follows.
Turkish Land Forces Integrated Intelligence System: The project includes a business process model based requirements elicitation methodology and its implementation for a large software intensive system.
Turkish Land Forces Maneuver Control System: The project includes refinement of a business process model based requirements elicitation methodology previously developed for Turkish Land Forces and its implementation for a large software intensive system.
A number of MODSIM applied and student projects are conducted in Modeling and Simulation Research Center (MODSIMMER).
Portable and Easy-to-Use Patient Data Acquisition and Communication System Design and Implementation for Emergency Ambulance: Scientific Research Project (BAP) jointly conducted with GATA.
3D Brain Image Visualization: BAP project jointly conducted with Hacettepe University.
Building of a Corpus and a Treebank for Turkish: Supported by BAP and TÜBITAK. A 2-million word corpus of written Turkish and a 10,000-sentence morphologically and syntactically annotated treebank (a subset of the main corpus) have been designed, compiled and annotated for linguists and computational linguists working on Turkish.
The Institute is in a fifth framework EU project, "Avicenna", on establishing a virtual campus around the Mediterranean with 16 universities.
The Informatics Institute is responsible for developing for
advanced visualization tools for e-health and e-culture (museum)
